The Shadows of Ygothu

Suggestions for creatures that roam the land of Phlyndir, even people you may find throughout your journey.

The Shadows of Ygothu

Postby Patsen » Sun Oct 30, 2011 4:23 pm

The Ygothu Darklands is home to many creatures, most of which have been changed by the Wytherium. Those who reside in Delphynir know all about the deadly creatures that roam the grounds of the Ygothu Darklands, but only the Kod-Mezu are aware of the true dangers that lurk behind the shadows of these lands. Even the flora and fauna that have been tainted by Wytherium know to fear the Shadows of Ygothu. Many scholars who come to the ruins that belong to the first inhabitants claim to have seen figures that move in the darkness, but there are none who know what these shades truly look like. Those who have studied the Ygothu Darklands, have come to believe that these shadows originated from inside the ruins, but nobody knows for sure.

As far as the citizens of Delphynir are concerned, since these creatures have taken no action, they probably can't do any harm. The Kod-Mezu, on the other hand, believe that there will be a time when these creatures will cease to be passive, and when this time comes, everyone must be prepared for what may come.

"We, the Kod-Mezu, know the most about these creatures, but even our knowledge is limited. We know that they do not eat, they do not sleep, and that when you enter the Darklands, they will always be watching." --Rathias, head scholar of Ygothu Darklands research.

Interesting. It shows how little is known about the Ygothu as a whole, as well as showing how dangerous it can be. As for suggestions, I have none because the descriptions of the Shadows themselves are already very vague =))

The first thing that came to my mind is that the shadows are made of pure magic infused with Wytherium. Dunno how that works though. 8P

I was thinking that the Shadows are what became of the ones who used to live in the ruins.

Shadows, how do they work?

Maybe they become hostile when trespassing on the ruins. Otherwise, they just stare at you.

Ooh, maybe they could shape shift too? Depends on what their original shape is supposed to be. You could do some really creepy stuff with these guys.
