This is exactly what the title suggest: An dreamerr, Auli, and, well, his adventures. This game idea is supposed to immerse players into the world of Phlyndir, and introduce it to the culture of the Delphynir peoples. This game is supposed to take place in the transition of Period 13 to Period 14, where the Gasoru race is discovered, and where peaceful relations are set with them.
Auli was born in a modest household, with dreams of grandeur, wishing to be a famous explorer all throughout his childhood. One day, his father dies, and after the funeral, he realizes that there is nothing left for him in his town, Aravel. His father's possessions were all left to his mother, who is more than capable of continuing their business of... whatever it is that it was. Auli takes his opportunity, packing only light equipment: a simple sword, some coins, and a loaf of bread and cheese, and with this, he makes his journey to explore Delphynir and what may lie beyond.
Armed with the stories of old, Auli opens his mind to the vast world of Phlyndir.
I imagined this game to be an open world with a sandbox aspect. Think Grand Theft Auto set in the Dungeons and Dragons universe, which means dungeon crawling. The main storyline will involve Auli's eventual involvement in the expedition discovering the Gasoru.
It is to be noted, however, that he will not be a key name in the eyes of the people of Phlyndir. A captain, or a higher up will be the one given honors for the Gasoru expedition. Auli will just be a plot device in the history of Phlyndir.
This, however, will be secondary to the playability of the game. The game is supposed to give you the complete freedom to explore the Delphynir continent (and upon finishing the main story, the Gasoru continent.) There are dungeons that can be explored, and there will be items and experience, and new spells to learn in the game.
Auli's adventure starts with him leaving his home to go on a journey, and it ends... anywhere. The main objective is to reach 100% completion. His adventures include helping towns with a crisis, chasing down a serial killer, helping rebuild a tunnel, and listening to stories.
Listening to stories? What does that mean? Auli is a very... active dreamer. Throughout the game, Auli will find storytellers and libraries. These are portals to times in history, or adventures of a mythical character, or even the retelling of the acts of the Gods. Auli, being the dreamer that he is, will imagine himself in place of the main character, and will dream up the entire story told to him. What does this mean? It means you will be able to play as the main character for numerous stories at different points in history, as Auli, the hero.
Some stories will be single player and some stories will have multiplayer allowed; it's all in the fun of living the lore of Phlyndir.
Fighting Mechanics: It's gonna be a Third person over the shoulder fighter. It won't be slow like Deadspace. You'll be running, hacking your way through enemies with magic, swordsmanship- maybe even your fists- to win fights.
