Runes: small, unique holes to the Magical Plane. Runesmithing is not an uncommon profession in the Ehrui nation. Runes are essentially made to alter the physical properties, or even add certain properties, to objects that they are placed on. Runemasters have studied runes their whole lives, and have only begun to scrape the tip of the iceberg. However, this does not mean that the usefulness of runes are without merit. On the contrary, Runes play a vital part in the lives of the inhabitants of Delphynir.
Spacial Runes are runes that alter physical properties of objects. A giant greataxe could be runed to weigh as much as a feather, or a person could be runed with the power to move faster than others.
Elemental Runes are runes that apply a certain elemental affinity to objects. Weapons could be imbued with the properties of ice, fire, air, earth, or even lightning. This is almost always used to exploit weaknesses within enemies.
Spell Runes are runes that enable users to cast spells to almost the same effect as Kod-mezu magic. Such include tossing fireballs, opening dimensional rifts, necromancy, and even telekenesis.
Runes are used in that they are usually etched or attached to a thing. The power of the rune can be tapped by any organism with a strong enough magical affinity (Currently only the Ehrui and Kod-mezu are able to tap runes, but due to the closemindedness of the Kod-Mezu, the use of runes is exclusive to the Ehrui)
