HI Everyone!

Since the chickENGINE library is somewhat usable now, I'll be making a map builder which utilizes the library and assembles all the assets we've created into a map file. This map file will be used by the game to load everything it needs for a particular map!

Actually, the map builder is done, the alpha one at least, already! It assembles everything in our library from skydomes, terrains, water, etc... and the loader works with the early stages of the game. Yes it can load the map file from the map builder! This is actually a big step towards compartmentalizing the development of the game into manageable components. The maps can be created without worrying if about the game itself!

Finally finished polishing up the map builder a bit. Still waiting for the other tools to be developed so that it can be integrated into the map builder. Anyway here is a screenie of the map builder!

Hi Everyone!

Polished up the Map Builder some more. Was able to increase the fidelity of the selector tool. It now selects object more accurately. Anyway, here is an updated screen of the map builder, of course with better 3D assets!

I was always under the impression that the game would be built as one giant map and that resources would be loaded in real-time. Will we be implementing a sort of portal system?

Yes a portal system, in a sense. I was targeting something like the way dragon age implemented their map-to-map system.

Alright, but just be wary that Dragon Age II was harshly criticized for maps being multipurposed, causing bland settings.
